Is CDCR considering halting visiting at the institutions?

As part of CDCR’s COVID-19 prevention efforts, normal inmate visiting will be canceled statewide until further notice based on California Department of Public Health guidance for mass gatherings. This includes normal visiting for the Division of Juvenile Justice. At this time, overnight family visits and legal/attorney visits will be held as scheduled. CDCR values visitation as an essential part of rehabilitation, the Department must make difficult decisions in order to protect the health and wellness of all who live in, work in, and visit state prisons. Visitors should monitor CDCR’s website for more information and updates. Incarcerated person marriages will be postponed, those affected are encouraged to work with the institution’s Community Resource Manager regarding rescheduling at a later date.
