Filing an Application for CalWORKS, CalFresh*, or Medi-Cal

*All CalFresh applications will be evaluated for Expedited Service.You may be able to get Expedited Service benefits within 3 calendar days if you meet certain criteria.

If you do not have all the information to complete the application, just complete what you can! You can submit your application with just your name, address, and signature.

You can walk in and apply at any of the following offices:

Go to the BenefitsCal website or the Get Cal-Fresh website to create an account and apply online. You can also view your benefit information.

You can contact our office at (209) 385-3000 or (855) 421-6770 and request an application be mailed to you.

About Food and Nutrition Services

CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps) is known federally as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP, which provides monthly food benefits to individuals and families with low-income and provides economic benefits to communities.

CalFresh benefits can help buy nutritious foods for a better diet.  CalFresh benefits stretch food budgets, allowing individuals and families to afford nutritious food, including more fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods.

Eligibility Requirements

Households must meet certain income and resource standards in order to receive CalFresh. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens or belong to certain non-citizen groups that are eligible for the program. CalFresh benefit amounts are based upon your household size and income.

About Nutrition Information Outreach

Obesity has become an epidemic in the United States.  In order to combat and promote good health, the Merced County Human Services Agency (HSA) is actively spreading the message of healthy food choices and exercise. Nutrition information is available through HSA at many health fairs and other community events.  Look for us out in the community with informational materials and cool handouts for kids.  For more information about upcoming events, contact the Human Services Agency office at (209) 385-3000.
