My name is Angel Casas. I have been a Deputy with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office since 2019. Before my employment with The Merced County Sheriff’s Office, I was a California Highway Patrol officer for approximately nine years. I am also a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
K-9 Boss is a male German Shepherd. He specializes in Narcotics Detection and Apprehension. He was born in December 2020 and joined the Merced County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit in December 2021.
K-9 Boss became my partner on December 28, 2022. K-9 Boss and I are assigned to patrol operations. When he joined the Merced County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team, he was only a year old and was not a trained K-9. He and I attended and completed 320 hours of handler and K-9 training. K-9 Boss and I continue to grow and learn as we train with The Merced County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. We look forward to continuing to be a part of the K-9 Unit and making a difference for Merced County.
