Schools & Child Care
School Administrators (ECE, K-12)
- On July 9, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published its updated recommendations for K-12 schools. The following guidance applies CDC’s recommendations to the California context, in order to help K-12 schools formulate and implement plans for safe, successful, and full in-person instruction in the 2021-22 school year. This guidance is effective immediately and will be reviewed regularly by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
- On August 11, 2021, the state has ordered all schools TK-12 to have vaccination verification and testing for all school employees.
- Merced County Schools are set to reopen for full in person instruction for the school year 2021-2022. MCOE’s campaign “Ready to Return” provides options for students and families to continue learning in the safest possible environment.

Colleges & Universities
- As of June 15, the state has moved Beyond the Blueprint. Vaccinations are a safe and effective way of preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death, and are the most important resource for keeping campus communities safe. Vaccination is encouraged for all eligible students, faculty, and staff.
Education Professionals
- As places of higher education return to school, they must comply with California’s COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards.
