Active Transportation Program (ATP)

The Merced County Department of Public Heath (MCDPH) is excited to lead the Active Transportation Program and to be partnered with the Merced Bicycle Coalition, Cultiva de Salud, the County of Merced Sheriff Department and the California Highway Patrol to provide additional support and expertise with the ATP goal of making walking and bicycling safety a key component throughout the school year.

Our programs and projects help schools and communities improve safety and get more children walking and bicycling to and from school. Communities are using federal, state and local ATP funding to construct new bicycle lanes, pathways and sidewalks, as well as to teach children bicycle and pedestrian safety skills, address safety challenges around schools and encourage more children to walk and bicycle to school.

Watch for the many ATP activities that are on their way such as a Driver Safety Campaign, Community Walking School Buses, a Mobile Bicycle Repair Service, the Winton Elementary Social Media Project, and Bike Month in March, 2019.

For more information about the Winton Active Transportation Program, please call the County of Merced Department of Public Health at (209) 381-1042.
