No Place Like Home Program

On July 1, 2016, Governor Brown signed legislation enacting the No Place Like Home (NPLH) Program to dedicate $2 billion in bond proceeds for the development of permanent supportive housing for persons who are in need of mental health services and are experiencing homelessness, chronic homelessness, or are at-risk of chronic homelessness.

The first step in implementation of this new program is the application for Technical Assistance Grant Funds to assist in the development of NPLH housing projects. Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5849.10 appropriates $6.2 million from the Mental Health Services Fund to provide technical assistance to counties related to the NPLH Program with medium size counties, like Merced County, eligible for $100,000 non-competitive funds.

On July 11, 2017 Merced County Board of Supervisors approved the NPLH 2017 Technical Assistance Grant Application for submission to the State Department of Housing and Community Development.
