Sheriff Warnke continues to strongly support issuing Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) license to eligible Merced County residents. The Sheriff's Office is going through a brief transition on the CCW process. Soon you will be able to self-register, make appointments, and modify your existing CCW license online. The new process will be efficient and will reduce the number of times you will be required to appear in person. Sheriff Warnke has put all new CCW applications on pause until this new platform can be implemented by January 2021. Work is underway right now to make the transition as quickly and smoothly as possible. We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated on this process.
If you have a previous appointment for a new CCW application or renewal your appointment will still be honored and scheduled.
Current CCW holders that need renewal by December 2020 can contact the Merced Sheriff's CCW office at (209) 385-7559 to schedule an appointment.
As a reminder, all CCW renewals require a 4-hour training certification along with range qualifications for the weapons on your permit at the time of renewal. You will also need to bring $30.00 (exact cash or check) made out to the Merced County Sheriff's Office along with a $52.00 check or money order made out to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
