Sheriff Warnke continues to strongly support issuing Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) license to eligible Merced County residents. The Sheriff's Office is going through a brief transition on the CCW process. Soon you will be able to self-register, make appointments, and modify your existing CCW license online. The new process will be efficient and will reduce the number of times you will be required to appear in person. Sheriff Warnke has put all new CCW application appointments on pause until this new platform can be implemented sometime within the next couple of months in 2021. Work is underway right now to make the transition as quickly and smoothly as possible. We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated on this process.
If you have a previously scheduled appointment for a new CCW application through June 2021, your appointment is still valid as scheduled. You can confirm your appointment by contacting the CCW Bureau Office at (209) 385-7559 or email at MercedSheriffCCW@CountyofMerced.com. Additionally, you can contact the CCW Bureau Office for information regarding fees or other questions.
Current CCW holders can contact the Merced Sheriff's CCW Bureau office at (209) 385-7559 or email at MercedSheriffCCW@CountyofMerced.com to schedule a renewal appointment within 90 days of your expiration date.
As a reminder, all CCW renewals require a 4-hour training certification along with range qualifications for the weapons on your permit at the time of renewal. You will also need to bring $30.00 (exact cash or check) made out to the Merced County Sheriff's Office along with a $52.00 check or money order made out to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
