Agricultural Waste Management Loan Program

About the Division


Merced County, with more than 335 dairies and approximately 45 poultry facilities, has one of the first ordinances in the state regulating animal confinement facilities. Enforcing state regulations throughout Merced County is the Division of Environmental Health.

Duties


Environmental Health responds to complaints concerning flies, odor, dust, groundwater and surface-water issues and routinely inspects Merced County dairies and poultry facilities.

Apply


Existing animal confinement facilities needing assistance to improve waste management systems may apply for funding through the Agricultural Waste Management Loan Program. This loan program is administered by the Merced County Community and Economic Development Department and the Merced County Division of Environmental Health.



Financial Assistance To Improve Ag Waste Management Systems


Terms:
  1. 5.1% Fixed Interest Rate
  2. 15 yrs. or less repayment terms
$500,000 maximum* per animal confinement facility
$250,000 maximum for freestall installation/expansion per facility

The Agricultural Waste Management Loan Program is available to assist with wastewater improvements to animal confinement facilities. This loan program covers lagoon installation/expansion, pipeline installation/expansion, freestalls, flush systems, wastewater return systems and more!
